Conservatives aren’t Conservative — They’re Scared
Republicans like to call themselves conservative, but that’s not the reality they’ve shown us.

Conservatives, as practitioners of the Republican political ideology, are afraid. I say this knowing full well that some conservative individuals are actually conservative and don’t approve of all the Republican Party leadership bullshit. I’m not talking about those types. I’m talking about how the Republican Party itself is not conservative. They play tough, but deep down, the Republicans fear so many non-scary things.
If I offend you with this, I want to apologize upfront for being correct and accurate in your presence.
What is the definition of conservative? As a noun, dictionary.com defines conservative as, “a person who is conservative in principles, actions, habits, etc.,” and “a supporter of conservative political policies.” As an adjective, we see, “disposed to preserve existing conditions, institutions, etc., or to restore traditional ones, and to limit change.” And also, “cautiously moderate or purposefully low,” and finally, “traditional in style or manner; avoiding novelty or showiness.”
That communicates a certain reservedness and a bias against change. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it, right? Anyone with an engineering background knows that’s a fool’s proposition. Improvement and optimization is the name of the game, and a conservative person is going to be resistant to that.
An Example: The Conservative Budget
You budget, right? When making a budget, one works with the money they have coming in, and the expenses they’ve got. Credits and debits. Rent, food, and transportation take up a bulk of your expenses, and you can be conservative when budgeting for them (and then with your spending, too). Instead of being extravagant and spending $1000 per month on food, you limit yourself to $100 per week. Once you buy your food and stay on budget, you’ve been conservative with your sustenance spending.
This is an example of being cautious and reserved instead of flippant and showy. Someone who is conservative with their spending is a person who keeps a good chunk of each paycheck and tucks it away…
